30kg ganja seized, actress detained

PETALING JAYA: Anti-narcotics police seized over 30kg of ganja following the arrest of an actress of a soon-to-be released local drama serial and three others in Damansara about 10 days ago.
The teenage actress who is said to be a student of a private college was held in a raid at a condominium unit by a district anti-narcotics police team late on April 19.
It is learnt that she was with a 22-year-old man who is believed to be her boyfriend and two other male youths, aged 19 and 20, both said to be college mates of the actress.
Police hauled up all four suspects and seized the drugs which is said to have a street value of several hundred thousand ringgit.
Sources said initial investigations revealed that the drug ring allegedly led by the oldest suspect supplied the ganja to college students.
Petaling Jaya police chief ACP Mohd Zaini Che Din who confirmed the arrests said the suspects were under a remand order for investigations.
He declined further comment.
The case is classified under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act which carries the death sentence upon conviction.
The actress who made her debut with the serial is expected to miss the launch of the drama which is said to be next month.
theSun also learnt that the main suspect of the ring is a close relative of a political aide of a minister.
