Ramasamy slams parties behind critical Guan Eng banner

    GEORGE TOWN: Penang Deputy Chief Minister II Prof P. Ramasamy's has condemned irresponsible parties behind a banner which allegedly voiced dissatisfaction towards Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng's leadership following the controversial bungalow issue.
    The banner, which was hung at the a flyover in Chai Leng Park, Prai, stated the lose of confidence in Lim's leadership allegedly by DAP branch members in the area due to the recent issue.
    However, Ramasamy who is also Prai assemblyman, brushed off the contents of the banner, saying that the perpetrators could be anybody instead of his branch members.
    He said he learnt about the banner via social media yesterday and has since informed Seberang Prai Municipal Council (MPSP) councillors to remove it.
    Additionally, Ramasamy said that he will also hold a discussion with his party branch members before taking any further action.
    "A police report will be lodged if such banner crops up again," he told theSun when contacted.
    Meanwhile, in another development, Penang DAP received further boost as eight new members joined the party, today.
    The new members include Lim's information officer Zaidi Ahmad, Penang Economic Equitable Agenda (AES) special tasks officer Abd Wahab Long and a former PAS member Azizan Salleh.
    State DAP chairman Chow Kon Yeow praised the new members, which comprise mostly of Bumiputra, to uphold DAP's struggle.
    Additionally, he said more Bumiputra were also joining the party in Sarawak.
    "It is time to scrap off the perception that DAP is a Chinese-dominated party as other races continue to submit their memberships," he said.
    "I hope it will strengthen the party."
    Other new members include Syed Sulaiman Shaik Abdul Kader, Mohd Sophian Mohd Zain, Noor Syawani Md Amin , Derek Tan Kean Theng and Mohd Izral Suhaimi.
