Three killed in Tanah Merah road accident

    TANAH MERAH: Three men were killed and three women seriously injured in an accident involving two cars at Km2.4 of Jalan Tanah Merah-Pasir Mas near Kampung Jelatok here last night.
    Tanah Merah Police chief DSP Suzaimi Mohamad said today the dead were identified as Tan Hok Sun, 28; Mohd Alif Amani Mohd Zardi, 20, and Muhammad Salihin Yasar, 17, all from Tanah Merah.
    Those injured in the 1.15am accident were Nurul Atika Abdullah, 17, and Nor Asmira Mahadi, 21, of Tanah Merah; and Nurul Idayu Nasri, 18, of Machang.
    A Honda Civic driven by Mohd Alif Amani, with Muhammad Salihin, Nurul Atika, Nurul Idayu and Nor Asmira on board, collided with a Proton Wira driven by Tan.
    "Tan died on the spot due to severe injuries to his head and body while Mohd Alif Amani and Muhammad Salihin died while receiving treatment at the Tanah Merah Hospital," he said when contacted here today.
    Suzaimi said the injured had been sent to the same hospital.
    Mohd Alif Amani's father, Mohd Zardi Mohd Zain, 44, said he received the news of the accident at 2am today.
    Meanwhile, Tan's girlfriend Chee Huey Chen, 21, said Tan had informed her he was coming to meet her at her home in Kampung Cina, Kelewah, Machang.
    "I found out about the incident after waiting for Tan until 2am. I called him on his mobile phone but he did not answer.
    "I then called one of his friends and was told that he had met with an accident," she said. — Bernama
