KUALA LUMPUR: Authorities detained 47 people including 15 guest relations officers (GRO) in an integrated anti-vice operation in the city last night.
Federal Territories Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Adnan Md Ikhsan said the operation which began at 1.45pm and ended at 5.50am focused on entertainment centres.
"Most of the entertainment centres hired Muslim women as GROs, which is a syariah offence," he said after leading the operation.
Also detained were Muslim workers and customers who consumed liquor. They were brought to Federal Territory (JAWI) Islamic Department for further action.
Adnan said the authorities seized more than 60 sets of gambling machines worth about RM300,000 from children entertainment centres.
"The children entertainment centres were used as cover for gambling activities. The operators and customers had fled the scene."
