KUCHING: PBB Deputy President Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg believes Barisan Nasional has the ammunition to break into the opposition's fort and wrest a number of seats in the May 7 polls.

Apart from breaking into the opposition's territory or stronghold in the urban areas, BN candidates also have the ability to win seats held by the opposition in towns outside the city, said Abang Johari.

However, he stopped short of revealing the seats that will come under threat from the BN assault.
Abang Johari who will defend his Satok seat in the coming state election therefore urged BN candidates to double their efforts to ensure victory at their respective constituencies.

"From our initial assessment and intelligence report BN can win between 68 and 70 seats but the figure may increase when the date for polling reaches the final stretch," he told reporters at premier gotong-royong programme at Kampung No.3 in Satok, here today.

He said the prospect of BN remaining in power to set up the government and continue the development agenda under the leadership of Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem, remains positive.

In the 11th state election to be held on May 7, candidates from BN, DAP, PKR, PAS, Amanah and Independent will contest for 82 state assembly seats, including 11 new seats.

BN has already won two seats on nomination day (April 25), kicking off the election campaign on a positive note. — Bernama
