Azmin Ali to travel to S'wak again on May 4

SUBANG JAYA: PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali will go back to Sarawak on May 4 but will not make a formal request to do so.
Speaking to reporters after attending the Malaysian Trades Union Congress (MTUC) May Day rally today, Azmin said Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem is "being arrogant" for wanting people to write a formal letter addressed to him before allowing them to enter the state.
"I will not appeal. As a Malaysian I have my right to travel and I'm going there again on the 4th (May)," he said.
"He (Adenan) is being arrogant, and it is a disgrace to a parliamentarian and Malaysians that we are not allowed to enter Sarawak freely," Azmin said.
Azmin had arrived in Kuching on April 29 and was granted a three-day stay by the state's Immigration Department.
Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng too will have to leave the state before polling day as he is allowed to stay until May 5.
The Sarawak Immigration Department usually grants Malaysians from the Peninsular a social pass for 90 days.
But the state's chief minister and immigration have discretion in deciding entry of non-Sarawakians into the state.
Adenan is willing to consider extending both Azmin's and Lim's stay in Sarawak upon receiving their formal requests.
Previously, Sarawak has barred some opposition leaders like Amanah president Mohamad Sabu and PKR vice-presidents Rafizi Ramli and Nurul Izzah Anwar from entering the state. The state elections will be held on May 7.
