JOHOR BARU: A former chairman of KIPMART Taxi Drivers Welfare Association, Tampoi, pleaded guilty in the Sessions Court today to receiving a bribe from a taxi driver to settle a case with the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD).
Radzali Attan, 55, was fined RM10,000 or in default six months jail by Sessions Court Judge Mohamad Haldar Abdul Aziz.
He committed the offence at his house in Lorong Hajah Salamah off Jalan Bakar Batu, Muar, at 1.15pm on July 13, 2015.
He received RM1,000 from taxi driver Mohd Yunos Wahab, 50, as a fee to settle a case between the driver and SPAD, saying he could influence the SPAD officer to settle the parking case.
According the facts of the case, the accused received RM250 from the complainant earlier but asked for RM1,000 and said the RM250 was too little to deal with the case.
He was charged under the Land Public Transportation Act 2010.
Prosecuting officer from the MACC Norsyarina Raizan prosecuted while the accused, who was not represented, paid the fine.
