KOTA KINABALU: The authorities today demolished 42 squatter houses in Kampung Sembulan Lama here.

Mayor Datuk Yeo Boon Hai said the illegal structures were torn down in an integrated operation that involved the Kota Kinabalu City Hall, police and other enforcement agencies.

He also said that City Hall had received complaints from the local people of many unidentified people staying in the settlement.

Meanwhile, Kota Kinabalu City Police chief ACP M. Chandra said the police, with the collaboration of City Hall, conducted an integrated operation against illegal immigrants in the area from 2am to 6am today.
