Sarawakians must evaluate performance of opposition before casting votes: Salleh

KUCHING: The people of Sarawak must analyse the failure of the opposition to walk the talk over the past five years said Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak.
The voters must therefore, evaluate the opposition carefully before casting their votes on May 7, to ensure only the right candidates are picked to serve the people.
"Actually issues raised by the opposition have already been resolved by the Sarawak government under the leadership of Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem. So, there are actually no issues for the opposition," he said in the 'Randau Sejiwa Senada' programme aired on RTM's TV1 channel, today.
He attended the programme with Santubong Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar who is also Natural Resources and Environment Minister.
Salleh said though Malaysia practiced the democratic system, the people are free to choose their own leaders.
"However, they must make the right choice so that the country will not fall into the wrong hands and lead the country towards disaster," he said.
He said the opposition is not the right choice for the people of Sarawak because they (opposition) do not have a stable policy.
Salleh said the overlapping of seats and failure to reach a consensus in the allocation of seats has resulted in opposition candidates fighting against each other for seats in several constituencies.
"They (DAP and PKR) are contesting against each other in six seats and that shows the opposition's failure to be systematically organised. If they (opposition) cannot even settle a seat allocation issue, how are they going to administer a state.
"Their politics is not to serve the people but to win seats for their own party and benefit, proving their disunity clearly," said Salleh who called on the people to give the Sarawak BN a bigger mandate.
Salleh also gave three reasons for the people of Sarawak to choose BN namely - Adenan factor, clear development agendas and BN's proven track record in the administration of the state.
Meanwhile, Wan Junaidi said the good relationship between Adenan and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak would enable development programmes to be carried out smoothly.
"The Prime Minister has visited Sarawak more than 50 times and every time the Prime Minister visited the state, he doesn't just give empty promises but fulfills the Chief Minister's request in terms of funds, carrying out projects, and policies," he said. — Bernama
