Eldest sister of Raja of Perlis dies

    KANGAR: Tunku Puteri Utama Datuk Seri DiRaja Sharifah Salwa Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail, the eldest sister of the Raja of Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail, passed away today.
    State Secretary, Ahmad Zamri Khairuddin who made an announcement on her demise over RTM this afternoon, said Tunku Puteri Sharifah Salwa, 74, died at Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital (HSB), Alor Setar at 11.15am
    However, he did not state the cause of her death and since when she was warded at HSB.
    However, according to the Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, his aunt was admitted to HSB for dengue hemorrhagic fever days ago.
    Prayers for the deceased will be held at Tuanku Syed Putra Mosque, here, after Asar prayers at 4.30pm before Tunku Puteri Sharifah Salwa's remains will be brought to the Royal Mausoleum in Arau for burial.
    Ahmad Zamri said members of the public could pay their last respects on the late princess at the mosque from 4pm and they were advised to be decently dressed in white or wear national attire, jubah (long dress), long-sleeved shirt and black songkok.
    The late Tunku Puteri Sharifah Salwa, the eldest child of the third Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail and his consort Tengku Budriah Tengku Ismail, was married to Tengku Bendahara Sulaiman Tengku Abu Bakar, the nephew of the Sultan of Johor, the late Sultan Ismail.
    She leaves a son and three daughters and several grandchildren.
    Tunku Puteri Sharifah Salwa, who was active in charity work, was the chairman of Pertubuhan Perkumpulan Perempuan Perlis and vice-chairman 1 of the Tuanku Syed Putra Dialysis Centre, Kangar. — Bernama
