Prasarana announces pre-qualified LRT3 contractors

KUALA LUMPUR: Prasarana Malaysia Bhd has revealed 96 contractors that are pre-qualified for the infrastructure and systems packages for the RM9 billion Light Rail Transit Line 3 (LRT 3) project.
The pre-qualified tenderers include big names like Zecon Bhd, WCT Bhd, Muhibbah Engineering (M) Bhd and Gamuda Bhd.
Speaking to a press conference after announcing the qualified contractors today, Prasarana president and group CEO Datuk Azmi Abdul Aziz said it will now start the tendering process for the 37km project.
"The tender period extends from May onwards, from the first submission of the first scheduled tender to the final award of the last scheduled tender," he noted.
The LRT3 which is scheduled to be completed on August 2020, will have 26 stations, with 2km of the alignment to be underground, connecting Bandar Utama to Klang.
