KUALA TERENGGANU: Terengganu police have smashed a syndicate stealing 4WD vehicles with the arrest of three men and a teenager.
The foursome, aged 17 to 35, were arrested at 2.40pm last Tuesday in Kampung Kolam Telaga Papan, Setiu, as they were towing away one such vehicle, Terengganu CID chief ACP Wan Abd Aziz Wan Hamzah said today.
The vehicle, a Ford Ranger company car belonging to a plantation supervisor, was stolen from Kampung Jeram, Manir, at 6.50am, he said.
The 40-year-old supervisor lodged a report immediately with the Gong Badak police station and a patrol car spotted the thieves towing away the vehicle in Setiu about eight hours later, he said.
The police also recovered the vehicle keys, a spanner, a modified Allen key and a screwdriver, he added.
Wan Abd Aziz said three of the suspects were from Terengganu and one from Kelantan.
The Ford Ranger was the second 4WD vehicle stolen in two days, he said. — Bernama
