GEORGE TOWN: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today recorded statements from Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng and his wife Betty Chew over the purchase of their RM2.8 million bungalow.
Lim and his wife arrived at the Penang MACC headquarters at about 9.30am. The couple did not stop to speak to members of the media who had been waiting outside the building since 8.30am.
They were accompanied by their lawyers Puchong MP Gobind Singh Deo, Seri Delima assemblyman RSN Rayer and Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh.
Gobind said MACC would take two days to record statements from both Lim and his wife.
The issue relating to the Taman Manggis land and bungalow purchased by Lim began when the matter was raised in the Dewan Rakyat by Tasek Gelugor MP Datuk Shabudin Yahaya, who requested the Valuation and Property Development Department to make an assessment on the RM2.8 million property, claiming the current price was above RM3 million. — Bernama
