Court orders engineer to enter defence over murder of girlfriend

GEORGE TOWN: The High Court today ordered an engineer to enter his defence on a charge of having murdered his girlfriend on Valentine's Day three yeas ago.
Judicial commissioner Collin Lawrence Sequerah made the decision after finding that the prosecution had made out a prima facie case against Cheong Teik Keon, 34.
He set three days from May 23 for the hearing.
Cheong is charged with having murdered Tan Ching Chin, 24, in Taman Hwa Seng, Jalan Roshan, Alma, here at 8.40am on Feb 14, 2013.
He is represented by counsel Mohamad Arif Shaharuddin while DPP Lim Cheah Yit appeared for the prosecution. — Bernama
