KUALA KANGSAR: The mother of Kuala Kangsar MP Datuk Wan Mohammad Khairil Anuar Wan Ahmad said she is praying for his safe return.
Speaking to the media outside her home in Bukit Chandan here, Rahmah Abdullah (pix), 76, said she was shocked when her youngest son conveyed the news to her.
"I was stunned when he told me that the helicopter his brother was flying in went missing.
"My daughter-in law tried to call him but there was no answer," said Rahmah whose voice was tinged with emotion.
She said the last time she met Wan Mohammad was on May 2 after attending Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Zambry Abd Kadir's daughter's wedding reception in Ipoh on April 30.
"My son told me he will be going to Sarawak but did not mention the dates," she added.
"I am ready to accept whatever it is ... If the Almighty wants him to come back early ... we have to accept it as fate," she said.

"As for mother's day ... I only want to see my son," she added.
Wan Mohammad, who is from Kuala Kangsar, was the Bukit Chandan assemblyman from 2008 until he was elected as the Kuala Kangsar MP in the 2013 general elections, after defeating PAS' Khalil Idham Abdullah and former Wanita Umno deputy chief Datuk Kamilia Ibrahim.
Rahmah said her son was dedicated to his political career.
"Wan Mohammad will only do what is right ... people like him," she added.
Family and friends gathered at his residence earlier today to watch Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak's press conference from Kuching.
They also performed prayers for Wan Mohammad's safe return and prayers were also conducted at mosques in the district.
Wan Mohammad's brother, Wan Mohammad Khairul Falah, 43, said the family remained hopeful.
"A good brother ... he is often seen in his constituency to solve peoples' problems," he added.
Wan Mohammad is the eldest of five siblings and has four children. His wife and children are at their residence in Puncak Setiawangsa, Kuala Lumpur.
