Cuepacs calls for implementation of working from home policy for women

KUALA LUMPUR: The Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services Malaysia (Cuepacs) recommended the government to implement the working from home policy for female workers.

Its president Datuk Azih Muda said the recommendation would greatly benefit some 48.4% female workers in terms of reducing the various issues associated to the group such as security, workload productivity and balancing the time spent in managing both family and work matters.

“We feel that by implementing such policy, it would greatly reduce the number of emergency leaves female workers took annually to take care of their sick family members.

“At the same time, such policy would not hinder the government from achieving the target of modern development,” Azih told reporters during Cuepacs’ World Women Day celebration themed "Women's Role in the Digital World".

Azih also pointed out that women workers tend to fail in finding a balance when it comes to making decision of whether to put their focus on their career path or taking care of their families.

“This eventually adds on to the stress level they have as most women feature some level of emotional vulnerability which makes them to be vulnerable to multiple external factors such as depression, victims of crime and decreasing their fertility rate which eventually affect their work,” he said.

Meanwhile, Azih also took the opportunity to wish all female civil servants and women out there a "Happy Mother's Day" as the group has done a lot in the nation's development.
