Remains of Asmuni, husband of deputy minister Noriah, flown home for burial

KUALA LUMPUR: The body of Asmuni Abdullah, who died along with his wife, deputy minister Datuk Noriah Kasnon, in a helicopter crash in Sarawak on Thursday, was flown from Kuching to the Subang RMAF base near here today.
The remains were flown in at 7.41am in a Charlie C130H RMAF aircraft that had left Kuching at about 2am.
Selangor Federal Action Council chairman Datuk Seri Noh Omar and Chief of Defence Forces Gen Tan Sri Zulkifeli Mohd Zin as well as relatives and friends were at the airport.
Asmuni's remains were taken to Parit Dua, Sungai Burong, in Tanjung Karang, Selangor, for burial. Noriah was buried on early Saturday.
Besides Asmuni and Noriah, who was deputy plantation industries and commodities minister, four other people died in the crash of the Eurocopter AS350 helicopter during a flight from Betong to Kuching.
They were Kuala Kangsar MP Datuk Wan Muhammad Khair-il Anuar Wan Ahmad, Plantation Industries and Commodities Ministry secretary-general Datuk Dr Sundaran Annamalai, Noriah's bodyguard Ahmad Sobri Harun and Filipino pilot Rudolf Rex Ragas. — Bernama
