Umno must be strong and mature in championing the people: Abu Hassan

    SHAH ALAM: Umno must continue to be strong and mature to ensure that the party continues to exist and champion the people.
    President of Selangor Former Elected Representatives (Mubarak) Tan Sri Abu Hassan Omar said Umno branches should be enhanced to convince the people that the party is still relevant.
    "Umno's biggest challenge today is how to regain the trust of the Selangor people. We must be more determined to regain past glory by recapturing Selangor from the Opposition in the 14th general election," he told Bernama.
    Abu Hassan said Umno must ensure that the agenda on social, education and the national objectives are achieved.
    Umno members should play a role in strengthening the party by giving their loyalty and strong support to the top leadershgip.
    "Loyalty plays a role in creating unity among the members who must have faith in the president.
    "Loss of loyalty and trust will weaken the party and spoil our agenda," said the former Selangor mentri besar.
    Umno should enhance unity and ties between members to bring stability to the largest party of the Malays.
    "Get rid of suspicion and dissatisfaction among us and unite to face any kind of conflicts that exist within the party."
    Abu Hassan also reminded young Umno leaders not to forget the party's struggles including defending the rights of the Malays.
    He said they should be sincere in carrying out the trust and responsibility given by the people if they want Umno to prevail. — Bernama
