KUALA LUMPUR: A claim by Tunku‎ Mahkota of Johor Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim on Facebook that Bukit Aman's Special Branch had tapped his phone was a misunderstanding, said Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar.
The Inspector-General of Police said he had an audience with Tunku Ismail today.
"It was an hour-long meeting and I have explained to Tuanku and there is no problem.
"It was a small misunderstanding and that is why Tuanku made the posting," he told reporters after attending the Rujirawongse Cup 2016 Rugby tournament at the Police Training Centre here.
Tunku Ismail, who is also Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) football club owner, had made the claim in an interview with a journalist which was uploaded on Johor Southern Tigers Facebook page on Wednesday.
On another matter, Khalid also commented on the detention of 20 cross-border criminals in Tanjung Labian, Tanjung Batu and Lahad Datu on Wednesday.
"The detention was part of the police operation in securing the cross-border areas and also in our efforts in capturing perpetrators who are facilitating criminals from Southern Philippines," he added.
It is learnt that those detained are being investigated under Section 130J of the Penal Code for involvement in efforts to topple the government or possible involvement with Royal Sulu Force.
Meanwhile, Khalid added that the police will look into the case involving Mohd Ali Baharom who alleged that former "Red Shirt" ally Datuk Jamal Yunuos had threatened to assault and shoot him.
"We will investigate based on the police report lodged, and if there is any breach of licensing regulations, then we will have to take necessary action," he said.
Mohd Ali, better known as Ali Tinju, alleged that Jamal called him on Wednesday at about 6.30pm to threaten him after the former told the media that the latter was unfit to contest in the Sungai Besar by-election.
The police report was lodged by Mohd Ali at Dang Wangi district police headquarters today.
Mohd Ali and Jamal collaborated during the "Red Shirt" rally to uphold Malay honour in Kuala Lumpur last September.
