SHAH ALAM: The Selangor Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) Youth wing wants the party to be given way to represent Pakatan Harapan in the by-election for the Sungai Besar Parliamentary constituency.
Its Youth head, Abbas Azmi said this was because the party had several candidates who had their own strength and were likely to be accepted by the electorate.
He said he had also decided to suggest the candidate from the party for the by-election.
"All activities to meet the people and electorate had already been made to introduce the party's mission and vision, in fact social programmes had also been intensified," he said in a statement, here today.
The Sungai Besar parliamentary seat fell vacant following the death of the incumbent Member of Parliament, Datuk Noriah Kasnon (pix) in a helicopter crash in Sebuyau, Sarawak on May 5.
Also killed in the incident were the MP for Kuala Kangsar, Datuk Wan Mohammad Khair-il Anuar Wan Ahmad and four others including the pilot.
The Election Commission will hold a special meeting today to discuss the two by-elections. — Bernama
