Najib arrives in London for working visit

LONDON: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak arrived Friday night for a working visit to the United Kingdom to attend programmes which include the Malaysia-UK Investor Showcase and Global Science
and Innovation Advisory Council (GSIAC) annual meeting here.
Upon arrival at the Farnborough Airport, Hampshire, at about 8.15pm local time (4.15am Malaysia).
Najib and his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, were greeted among others, by the Malaysian High Commissioner to the UK Datuk Ahmad Rasidi Bin Hazizi and his wife.
His entourage then departed to the Shangri-la Hotel at the Shard, where they will be staying, and were welcomed, upon arrival, one-and-a-half hours later, by the rest of the Malaysian delegation and officials from the Malaysian High Commission here.
Najib is making a pit stop in London to attend high-level programmes lined up for him before proceeding to Sochi, Russia, for the two-day Russia-Asean Commemorative Summit.
Besides the Investor Showcase and GSIAC meeting scheduled for May 16 and May 17, respectively, the prime minister will also observe the "topping out" ceremony for 'Legacy 1 at the Embassy Gardens' on Monday, a project by Malaysian property developer, Eco World International.
He will also launch Khazanah Europe Investment Ltd's regional office at The Shard the following day.
Najib is also scheduled to meet the new Commonwealth Secretary-General Patricia Scotland on May 16, before the start of the Investor Showcase. — Bernama
