Former Maybank employee found guilty of criminal breach of trust

PETALING JAYA: A former financial adviser of Maybank today pleaded guilty at the Sessions Court to 56 charges of criminal breach of trust involving some RM5.45 million.
The ex-employee, Jamaluddin Mohd Jamil, 35, was charged with committing the offences at the Maybank branch in Bandar Baru Selayang, Selangor.

According to the charge sheet, Jamaluddin committed the offences between early 2013 and June 2015, which involved financial transactions of RM2, 000 and RM700,000 from 33 potential investors.
Jamaluddin was unrepresented during proceedings and faces a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping for each charge under Section 409 of the Penal Code, upon conviction.
Deputy public prosecutor Raimi Ramli did not offer Jamaluddin bail.
Judge Zamri Bakar fixed May 31 for submission of the case facts, mitigation and also sentencing.
