Police further cripple 'Kadir Gang' with arrest of three local men

JOHOR BARU: Police have solved at least 16 robbery cases on business premises in South Johor with the arrest of three local men and seizure of two pistols and 52 live bullets in Seri Alam and Kota Tinggi today.
Johor police chief Datuk Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd said the men are believed to be some of the remaining members of the "Kadir Gang".
Last year, police crippled the gang with the arrest of three suspects and the seizure of five pistols.
Wan Ahmad Najmuddin told a press conference today that initial investigation showed the trio were involved in 16 robbery cases in the Johor Baru and Ulu Tiram areas.
He said they robbed convenience stores and fast-food shops and used the cash from the robberies to buy drugs.
Police believe another three suspects are still at large.
He said police tracked down the three local men after they robbed a fast food restaurant on May 22 and fired a shot in the air before fleeing.
Two of the suspects, aged 26 and 42, were arrested in a friend's house at Kg. Tenang, Sg Tiram, Seri Alam, at 6.30am today while the third suspect, aged 27, was arrested at a house in Kota Tinggi at 9am the same day.
Police also seized about 900gm of heroin powder, a home made pistol and a revolver, a motorcycle and a car.
All the suspects were originally from Felda Bukit Ah Peng, Kota Tinggi. They will be remanded for further investigation.
