UMW Toyota to invest RM2b in second manufacturing plant

    KUALA LUMPUR: UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd will invest RM2 billion to build a second vehicle manufacturing plant in Malaysia, its deputy chairman Akio Takeyama said.
    The investment includes land, building and equipment, he said at a press conference today.
    The new plant will be located at the Bukit Raja Industrial Estate in Klang, Selangor with land size of 670,000 square metres.
    Construction work will begin in the second half this year and operations are expected to commence in early 2019, for the manufacturing of passenger cars including energy efficient vehicles.
    UMW Toyota Motor will have a combined production volume of 90,000 to 100,000 units of vehicles annually from its new plant and existing plant.
