SYOMIRIZWA Gupta, Malaysia's sought-after luxury fashion brand, now has a space that is synonymous with its legacy. Syomirizwa Gupta: The Showroom marks the brand's new milestone, offering customers a more exclusive yet comfortable shopping experience.
Located at 282, Lorong Maarof, Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur, the 3,200-sq ft bungalow was handpicked by Creative Director Syomir Izwa for its 70s retro architecture infused with minimalist precision – a perfect fit for Syomirizwa Gupta's art and heritage inspired collections.
"The idea is to create a showroom that is both functional and contemporary. I want my clients to feel cosy and intimate as if they are in their own home. The space is a mixture of modern interior with a hint of 70s raw exuberance. Its dominant colours of grey, black and gold are chosen as backdrops to my colourful seasonal collections," Syomir commented.
From the luxurious evening dresses to exquisite bridal gowns, the showroom provides a dynamic yet intimate setting of stunning visual impact; an amphitheatre where his creations are at the core.
For its opening, legendary Malaysian singer Datuk Sheila Majid officiated the showroom's launch.
To further celebrate the occasion, guests were treated to a sneak preview of Syomirizwa Gupta Cruise 2016 RTW Collection, which is inspired by visionary painter and style icon, Frida Kahlo. Set to be released in July, the vivid collection pays homage to Kahlo's brilliant use of tropical colours that represent her native country, Mexico.
Transcending conventional rules and guidelines, every piece embraces the art of expressionism – evident in Kahlo's works – by balancing classic styles with bold colours and play of prints. A truly versatile line, it is perfect for a relaxed mix-and-match layering style. The ready-to-wear line will be available for pre-order in June.
"My passion for anything that depicts history or heritage is continuously reflected in my collections – be it cultural influences from Asia, Europe or other parts of the world. It has always been a part of the brand's DNA to fuse various cultural elements into stories, which are then interwoven into the detailing of the garments," Syomir said.
The launch of the showroom and his persistently bold new collections are proof of more exciting things to come from the designer.
