Datuk Vida to bid for 'F 1' plate
PETALING JAYA: The bidding frenzy for Putrajaya's elusive number plate is getting traction as renowned entrepreneur Datuk Seri Hasmiza Othman is set to make an astonishing bid to own the 'F 1' registration plate.
Known as Datuk Vida in the beauty care business circle, the founder of Vida Beauty told theSun that she is ready to table a 'very interesting figure' when the tender is opened next week.
"Coincidently, I am currently vying for a Ferrari and what more can suit the car with an 'F1' number plate," she said in an interview via WhatsApp last night.
At present, she owns a Lamborgini Aventador, Bugatti and several other supercars in her garage.
Asked what's the bidding figure for her to land the 'F1' plate, Vida replied: "Of course I can't reveal to you since I don't want my rivals to know. But I already have my favourite number. Just observe okay."
"F1 is my favourite sport. So to have the number plate is something I am longing for because it reflects my personality" she said. "I always want to be the first in everything. That's why I am excited about this."
She also said that she would bid for the new Kuala Lumpur 'V 1' registration plate should her attempt for Putrajaya's ultimate prize failed.
theSun had reported on May 18 that Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Aziz Kaprawi expected a bidding frenzy for the 'F 1' number plate.
"In United Kingdom, a Yorkshire businessman turned down an offer of £6million (RM34.7 million) two years ago to buy the 'F 1' registration plate which he purchased at £440,000 (RM2.5 million) as registration number for his Bugatti Veyron in 2008," Aziz had said.
The bidding tender for 'F' prefix of '1' to '9999' is opened from June 1 until June 14 with two weeks process to finalise the tender by a special committee.
The highest prices of bidding for number plates ever recorded in Road Transport Department history were RM748,000 for "W 1 N" and RM520,000 for "WWW 1" by Johor ruler Sultan Ibrahim Almarhum Sultan Iskandar in 2014 and 2012 respectively.
