KUALA LUMPUR: MCA will mobilise its election machinery to ensure a victory for Barisan Nasional (BN) in the upcoming Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar by-elections, said party president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai (pix).
He said Youth chief Chong Sin Woon and MCA Perak state chairman Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon have been appointed as MCA by-election steering committee chairman for the Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar by-elections respectively.
"It has been discussed and decided that MCA will give its full support towards the preparation for the by-elections to ensure victory for BN's candidates," Liow told reporters after chairing the party's 29th Presidential Council Meeting today.
Liow added that MCA have made some early preparations by engaging with the Chinese community in both constituencies.
On separate issue, Liow announced that the party would hold its annual general meeting in November.
"In the meeting, it was decided that the AGM for the branch level would be held in July, for the division level in September while the state level AGM will be held in October," he said.
Liow explained that although the party had previously announced the postponement of its party polls, they would still proceed with the AGM for all levels.
