Leona Lewis to play Grizabella on Broadway

THE rumours have been circulating for days, but it has now been confirmed that British singer Leona Lewis is to play Grizabella in the Broadway production of Cats reports the New York Times.
Many had been waiting eagerly to see who fill the shoes of Nicole Sherzinger, who played the role of Grizabella in London but pulled out of the Broadway revival, leaving writer Andrew Lloyd Webber "furious".
As the new Grizabella Lewis, who won the UK's singing show The X Factor, will also have the honour of performing the show's most famous song, Memory.
Other confirmed cast members include So You Think You Can Dance champion Ricky Ubeda as Mr. Mistoffelees and Quentin Earl Darrington as Old Deuteronomy.
Cats is due to open on on Broadway in July.
Trevor Nunn, who directed the original, will also oversee the new production, with Hamilton choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler joining him on the team. — AFPRelaxnews
