Build more bicycle lanes in Federal capital, says Ahmad Fauzi

    KUALA LUMPUR: Bicycle lanes in and around the federal capital, especially to public transport stations should be increased to nurture the cycling culture among city residents.
    Setiawangsa Member of Parliament, Datuk Ahmad Fauzi Zahari said such a step would encourage the use of bicycle as an alternative mode of transport to reduce traffic congestion and air pollution in the federal capital.
    "If more bicycle lanes are built, it will make it easier for city folks to cycle to the bus and LRT stations to work.
    "It also create a healthy lifestyle as cycling can invigorate one's body and mind," he told reporters after officiating the Setiawangsa Ceria Cycling and 1Malaysia Community Info here today.
    Also present was Dewan Negara deputy president Senator Datuk Seri Abd Halim Abd Samad.
    Ahmad Fauzi said the Setiawangsa Ceria Cycling is held twice yearly to encourage the people to practise a healthy lifestyle besides enhancing close ties among themselves.
    He said the cycling event would also be organised at the Setiawangsa Parliamentary level in August in conjunction with the Independence Day celebrations. — Bernama
