JOHOR BARU: The Marine Police detained a local boat skipper and nine illegal immigrants in Bandar Penawar, Kota Tinggi, yesterday.
Region Two Commander ACP Paul Khiu Khon Chiang said the skipper and the illegal immigrants, all Indonesians, were detained at 3.30pm.
"All of them were detained in a Proton Waja car in Tanjung Siang Plantation in Bandar Penawar.
"My men forced the car to stop and upon inspection found two men, six women, a boy and the skipper inside," he said in a statement today.
They were detained under Section 26A of Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007 and the Immigration Act 1959/63.
