Sungai Petani goldsmith shop loses RM50,000 in one minute heist

SUNGAI PETANI: A goldsmith shop in Jalan Ibrahim here lost about RM50,000 in a heist involving three men and a woman at 2.48pm today.
Kuala Muda district police chief, ACP Md Zukir Md Isa said based on the CCTV, the incident happened within a minute.
"Investigations revealed the suspects comprising three men and a woman had arrived on two motorcycles. They entered the shop and one of them smashed the glass counter displaying gold jewellery with a hard object believed to be a piece of iron or wood.
"Two of them escaped with two trays of gold necklaces and ankle bracelets estimated to be worth RM50,000," he told Bernama today.
Md Zukir said there were no customers at the time of the incident while five individuals including the owner and his workers were inside the shop. — Bernama
