PETALING JAYA: Berjaya Hotels & Resorts’ (BHR) CEO Hanley Chew (pix), appointed on April 1, 2016, is internationally reputed as an excellent hotelier and corporate leader with more than 25 years of experience in the hospitality, travel and time-share industries.
BHR’s hospitality brand has 14 hotels and resorts across six countries in 11 unique destinations. Chew has held key portfolios with local and international hotel chains in Malaysia, Myanmar, Indonesia and China.
As part of the overall responsibility for the company’s business, Chew will bring into line new product innovations and marketing initiatives that will better meet the needs of the new breed of travellers, in line with emerging travel trends, both locally and internationally.
“The travel and tourism industry is one of the fastest growing economy sectors in the world and the growing group of frequent travellers are blurring the line between traditional travel behaviours and new trends. The key is to embrace this evolution and build the capabilities to advance the group to facilitate this phenomenon where travelling, technology and communications go hand-in-hand to deliver sustainable results,” Chew commented when asked about his focus for the group.
