SHAH ALAM: A Malaysian suspect arrested when police busted a drug trafficking syndicate on May 18, led the city anti-narcotics team on May 22 to a warehouse at Jalan Udang Gantung, Telok Gong in Klang where they recovered 600,000 Erimin 5 pills valued at RM9 million.
Selangor police chief Commissioner Datuk Abdul Samah Mat said they seized 60 boxes containing the Erimin pills weighing 175kg inside the warehouse.
"We are hot on the trail of the mastermind behind the syndicate which have been actively involved in drug trafficking for more than three months. We believe the man arrested is the mastermind's runner," he told reporters in a press conference at the Selangor Police Contingent headquarters yesterday.
Abdul Samah said initial investigations revealed that the pills were smuggled into the country via a shipment.
Not wanting to disclose too much details, including from which country the shipment arrived, he said the drugs were meant for the local market with each pill sold at RM15.
The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
The same syndicate members who were arrested had also earlier led police to the recovery of 120 boxes containing 1,200,000 Erimin 5 pills valued at RM18 million.
