KUANTAN: The Pahang state government is committed to making the Malaysia-China Kuantan Industrial Park (MCKIP) project a success.
In this regard, Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob (pix) said one of the approaches taken by the state government was to facilitate approval of the project.
"We will give our full cooperation to ensure that the project becomes a competitive investment area by giving approval to the project as soon as possible.
"This will directly encourage economic growth and relations between the two parties," he said while speaking at the Malaysia-China joint promotion dinner here last night.
Also present was Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region deputy governor Zhang Xiaoqin.
Adnan said discussions would also be held from time to time and that he himself would be in the state delegation to Nanning, China in September.
"MCKIP involves major sectors among them, manufacturing, steel, automotive and plastic. It would create ample employment opportunities aside from benefitting small and medium companies here.
"More importantly, it will impact significantly not just on Pahang but also Terengganu, Kelantan and Mersing, Johor," he said.
Meanwhile, Zhang Xiaoqin said he was proud of the cooperation and impressed by the Malaysian culture promoted by Pahang.
"Recently we celebrated Qinzhou Day in Kuantan, Pahang with arts and cultural performances by both sides which truly strengthens the bond between the two cities.
"We hope to progress together from the aspect of economy, culture and manufacturing through MCKIP," he said. — Bernama
