KUALA LUMPUR: Four NGOs lodged a report today seeking police action against a person who smeared the Quran in a video uploaded onto the Internet.
Ikatan Rakyat Insan Muslim Malaysia (IRIMM), Pertubuhan Martabat Jalinan Muhibbah (MJMM), Ikatan Usahawan Kecil dan Sederhana Malaysia (IKHLAS) and Akhlak Rahsia Cekal (ARC) made the report at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters here.
They claimed that the person had smeared the Holy Book by licking and tearing it and using it as sex material on a website.
The NGOs wanted the police to act immediately and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission to stop the video from going viral any further, IRIMM president Amir Amsaa Alla Pitchay told reporters after lodging the police report.
Dang Wangi Police chief ACP Zainol Samah, when contacted by Bernama, confirmed that such a report was made. — Bernama
