KL Supercar Drag Race to unearth talented youngsters, promote Malaysia: Salleh

KUALA LUMPUR: The KL Supercar Drag Race, which will be held for the first time at Dataran Merdeka next month, can help hone the talents of youngsters in the motoring sports and promote Malaysia as an exciting destination.
Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak said the event was expected to attract more than 10,000 spectators.
"It will also strengthen relations between members of the various communities who turn out to watch the race," he told reporters after officiating a pre-launch programme for the event here tonight.
Meanwhile, programme chairman, Nazir Hussin Akhtar Hussin said the race was expected to be participated by about 1,600 local and foreign supercar owners.
"It is held to realise the interests and tastes of the younger generation in the country especially Supercar owners and fans," he said.
Nazir Hussin, who is Umno Youth's Urban and Housing Affairs Bureau (Help) chairman, said the championship organised by the bureau involved four series starting with the first series on July 15-17 followed by the second series on Sept 16-18, the third series on Nov 4-6 and the fourth series on Dec 2-4.
Various supplementary activities such as exhibitions and car accessories sales will also be held during the race. — Bernama
