KUALA KANGSAR: Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for Kuala Kangsar parliamentary by-election Datin Mastura Mohd Yazid wants to continue her late husband's legacy especially on developing the coast of Sungai Perak if chosen as a parliamentarian.
The widow of the late former Kuala Kangsar MP Datuk Wan Mohammad Khair-il Anuar Wan Ahmad said the latter had always liked something related to "water and river" when he was around.
She said that she would continue her husband's unfinished works and ensure the coast of Sungai Perak would be developed and brought to greater heights.
She said the project was currently under discussion with the local authorities (Kuala Kangsar Municipal Council) and she hoped she will be empowered to continue the works.
"I hope I will be given mandate by the voters," she told a press conference, accompanied by Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir at her residence today.
Mastura was not present at the nomination centre as she is undergoing the iddah (mourning period) after her late husband Wan Mohammad Khair-il passed away.
She was represented by her four sons during the nomination process.
Meanwhile, in SUNGAI BESAR, Bernama reported that BN candidate, Budiman Mohd Zohdi is confident the "local man" factor will provide him the advantage to better understand the needs and pulse of the people in the constituency.
This, he said, was because he had been meeting them for the past three years as the Sungai Panjang Assemblyman.
He regarded his nomination for the Sungai Besar parliamentary seat as an expansion of his service if he becomes the elected representative.
On his strategy to win the votes of the Chinese community, especially in Sekinchan, Budiman, 44, said he believed the people there knew that he would be able to serve them better.

"As a local there, I know the place and certainly am able to understand their problems," he added.
