SEREMBAN: A 23-year-old female clerk of a golf club in Bahau was found drowned today at a lake of the golf course, according to police.
The body of S. Sumathi was found at 6.30am by divers of a search-and-rescue team from the Fire and Rescue Service, said Jempol Police chief Supt Noorzainy Mohd Noor.
He said police found Sumathi's motorcycle, a pair of slippers and a knife by the lake last night after her aunt had reported to police that Sumathi had fallen into the lake at about 8pm.
A search conducted last night by the Fire and Rescue Service was called off as it was dark and the personnel found no trace of the woman, he said.
Noorzainy said the search was resumed at 6.25am today.
"The body was in the lake about 10 to 15 metres from where her slippers were found," he said, adding that the body was taken to the Jempol Hospital.
The case had been classified as "sudden death" for the moment, he said. — Bernama
