BUTTERWORTH: A recycle centre owner and his cousin were electrocuted at the premises in Jalan Bagan Lalang here on Monday.
Koid Aik Lung 36, the owner, was electrocuted when he stepped on the wet floor while checking the meter and his cousin, Aik Liang, 37, suffered the same fate when trying to pull the victim away.
This was related yesterday by a childhood friend of Aik Lung, Zulhilman Abdullah, 43, who said the cousins went to check a blackout after workers notified them of it.
"I was so shock after Aik Chew (younger brother of Aik Lung) called to tell me what happened," he said when met at the mortuary of the Seberang Jaya Hospital today.
Zulhilman showed the media pictures of happier times with his childhood friend who would no longer be around to celebrate Hari Raya with him.
Aik Lung leaves behind a 37-year-old wife and three children, while Aik Liang, a 39-year-old wife.
Aik Lung's eldest son, eight-year-old Anson was seen crying at the mortuary and said he will help his mother to care for his sisters aged five and three.
theSun has learned the Energy Commission has initiated investigations into the cause of the incident.
