Gerakan condemns the spread of political hatred
PETALING JAYA: Gerakan vice-president Datuk Dr Dominic Lau (pix) criticised PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang and DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng for spreading politics of hatred.
He said this in reference to Hadi's "pigs of DAP" remark which was later "twisted" by Lim to provoke the non-Muslims community.
Hadi had reportedly made the controversial remark during a meeting with Selangor PAS executive councillors last month over the upcoming by-elections.
Lau said as an Imam and veteran political leader, Hadi should not have made such an insulting remark which was not befitting for a mature politician.
"On the other hand, Lim should not deliberately twist Hadi Awang's speech by saying that the latter was insulting the general non-Muslims as pig, it was a provocation to incite the anger of non-Muslims in order to win votes for its political ally contesting in the twin by-elections," he said in a statement.
Lau urged all parties, specifically DAP and PAS to stop propagating the culture of political hatred by resorting to verbal attacks and the use of insults and abusive words.
