Lee Child to write at least three more Jack Reacher novels

JIM Grant, who writes under the name Lee Child, has signed with Penguin Publishing imprint Transworld for a further three Jack Reacher novels, despite claiming the series would end after 21, according to Booktrade.info.
Lee Child's 21st Reacher book, "Night School" is set to be published on Nov 7, 2016. Following an interview with Playboy back in 2012 – which has since been anthologised – fans had been under the impression that Child would do as his idol John D. MacDonald did, and stop the series at the 21 mark.
21 and over
However, in an announcement by Booktrade.info, the British author's publisher Transworld has released details of a further three Jack Reacher thrillers, a volume of short stories and a novella. Child explains: "I changed my mind about stopping because of the readers, simple as that. They created the Reacher phenomenon in the first place, and they want more, so who am I to say no to them? And there are still plenty of stories to tell."
The Jack Reacher books
First appearing in "Killing Floor" in 1997, the character of ex-US Army Military Police Corps Major Jack Reacher is now approaching his 20th anniversary. The series follows Reacher as he travels across the US – principally, investigating suspicious and dangerous situations. The character also appears in numerous short stories and novellas by Child (Grant).
Adaptations
"Jack Reacher" the movie was released in 2012. Based on Lee Child's 2005 novel "One Shot", it starred Tom Cruise in the eponymous role. Cruise will reprise the character in October 2016 for the upcoming sequel "Jack Reacher: Never Go Back" (Child's 18th novel) alongside Coby Smulders as Susan Turner.
The as-yet untitled first Reacher book under the new contract is expected to be published in fall 2017. — AFP Relaxnews
