GEORGE TOWN: Parti Cinta Malaysia (PCM) is filing a legal suit against Consortium Zenith BUCG Sdn Bhd and the Penang government for defamation over the undersea tunnel project.
PCM vice-president Datuk Huan Cheng Guan (pix) said he was taking the action against the company and the state government for calling him a liar.
He claimed the two parties had issued statements claiming that he had given false information on the undersea tunnel project.
"At a press conference held two days ago by Zenith BUCG and the Penang government, they implied that I lied even though I had quoted known sources-including from SSM (Companies Commission of Malaysia) and the DAP-led state government," he told a media conference here today.
Huan said he would pursue the matter as the public's interest was at stake and to safeguard his reputation and integrity.
On Wednesday, Consortium Zenith BUCG Sdn Bhd, a company that was awarded to construct the undersea tunnel, said it would file a suit against Huan for spreading false accusation against the company.
Its chairman, Datuk Zarul Ahmad Mohd Zulkifli, told a press conference that the allegations made by Huan against the company had eroded the company's good reputation. — Bernama
