KANGAR: Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azlan Man (pix) wants civil servants in Perlis to increase their personal integrity and comply with the Official Secrets Act.

He said government information was being leaked and outcomes of meetings which were regarded confidential went viral on social websites and Whatsapp as soon as the meetings ended or decisions made.

"There are also matters which have not been discussed, but have been discussed in social media. This should stop," he said when chairing a meeting of the federal and state department heads yesterday.

As an example, he cited the renovation of the Syed Alwi State Mosque, which is a heritage building.

The first phase is not even completed, but the second phase planning, which has not even been discussed, has been discussed on the social websites, he added.
He told the department heads to monitor their staff against leaking government information.

Azlan also expressed regrets over the action of some government employees who has no respect for their respective department heads.

"Cases like this, like missing from work, is not a secret anymore. I hope with the 'exit policy', problems like this can be resolved faster," he added. — Bernama
