ALOR STAR: The Kedah government will review regulations on entertainment during Ramadan following complaints of losses by operators of entertainment outlets in the state.
State Housing and Local Government, Water Supply, Water Resources and Energy Committee chairman Datuk Badrol Hisham Hashim (pix) said the matter had been discussed at a state executive council meeting, but a thorough study had to be conducted before a decision could be made.
"So far, there is no change and we will use existing laws where they (operators of entertainment outlets) are allowed to operate five days and to close on Thursday and Friday.
"Apart from that, they are also required to ensure Muslims are not allowed in their premises during Ramadan,' he told reporters here today.
Last June 9, Kedah Gerakan chairman Datuk Dr Cheah Soon Hai urged the state government to review the regulation prohibiting entertainment outlets from operating during Ramadan following losses suffered by more than 200 of the operators in the state.
