KUALA KANGSAR: Amanah, who is involved in a four cornered fight in the Kuala Kangsar by-election, said they have caught up with the Barisan Nasional (BN) election machinery in the campaign.
Perak Amanah chairman Asmuni Awi said the presence of former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was a contributing factor.
Mahathir spoke at a colloquium on "Selamatkan Malaysia" and a forum on the Citizens Declaration yesterday.
The party had nominated former nuclear scientist Dr Ahmad Termizi Ramli, who is the Kuala Kangsar Amanah division vice head to contest in the by-election.
"Umno supporters have approached us to declare their support ... we have overcome the initial setback ," he said at a press conference today.
Meanwhile, Amanah has set up a hotline (019-4720815) for outstation voters to check on their status at the party's operation centre.
Asmuni said this is one of the party's strategies to encourage constituents who are staying outstation to return to cast their votes.
