Terengganu fire dept to conduct road patrols during Aidilfitri season

KUALA TERENGGANU: The Terengganu Fire and Rescue Department will conduct patrols along several roads, including the East Coast Expressway 2 ((LPT2), a week before and after Aidilfitri so as to respond quickly in the event of accidents.
Its director, Azlimin Mat Noor, said this would be done at accident-prone stretches.
For LPT2, the patrols will be between Jabor, Kemaman, and Gemuruh, Kuala Terengganu, and for the major trunk road it will be from Cukai, Kemaman, to Besut, he told reporters after the breaking-of-fast here on Tuesday.
"Ahead of the festive season, there will be an increase in the volume of vehicles entering the state and LPT2 is the main route for those going to Kelantan. With the measures taken, we can provide fast service in case of incidents," he added.
He said so far during the month of Ramadan, there were 10 accident cases, including fatal ones, as of Tuesday compared with four cases during the corresponding period last year. — Bernama
