GEORGE TOWN: Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng (pix) hopes the state government's proposal to build a third bridge linking Gurney Drive and Bagan Ajam will not be politicised.
He said the planned infrastructure to do without toll collection will benefit the people and should not be misconstrued by certain quarters.
Speaking at a press conference today, Lim reiterated that he was willing to meet with Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof to further discuss and find a consensus on the matter.
He said he had yet to contact Fadillah personally but would get his office to set up an appointment soon.
Lim added that he had written a letter to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak over the application and had also sent a copy to Fadillah.
He also urged the federal government to grant approval for the bridge soon.
