Aircraft technician charged with supporting IS

SHAH ALAM: An aircraft technician was charged with providing support to the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group via social media two years ago.
Saiful Bahari Ahmad, 49, was charged with knowingly using his facebook account to support a terrorist group at the magistrates court today.
He is alleged to have committed the offence at No.2, Squadron VVIP, Pengkalan Udara Subang at about 7.33pm on June 12, 2014.
The charge under Section 130J(1)(a) of the Penal Code is punishable with life imprisonment or 30 years in jail and a fine upon conviction.
No plea was recorded from the accused. The court fixed July 19 for mention.
Saiful, who wore a blue T-shirt and blue pants had his face covered with a purple sweater when he was brought into the courtroom.
He was represented by lawyer Abdul Halem Mohamad Husin while Deputy Public Prosecutor Roslan Mat Nor appeared for the prosecution.
