No suspect yet in dog shooting case

MUAR: Police have yet to identify a suspect in the case of the stray mother dog who was shot dead here on Friday.
Muar District Police Chief ACP Azman Ayob said police are still investigating the brutal shooting incident which has since gone viral on Facebook.
It was earlier reported that the case is being investigated under Section 429 of the Penal Code for killing an animal and Section 39 of the Arms Act 1960
The nursing mother dog who gave birth to a litter of puppies a month ago was found dead at about 11am in Taman Junid Perdana here. An empty bullet shell was also found near the scene.

According to dog lover Esmond Ng who spoke to theSun today, this is the second dog shooting case in Muar.
Ng said he and several other dog lovers lodged a police report after discovering the carcass which was sent to the Veterinary Department for a post mortem.
He also appealed for witnesses to the incident to come forward and assist in investigations.
Meanwhile, Muar Municipal Council president Jamaludin Hamid said the council does not have a policy of shooting stray dogs.
"We catch dogs by trapping them with a net," he said.
It was reported on Sunday that animal activist Sharul Nizam Ab Rahim has offered a RM5,000 reward for anyone with information on the case.
"I am offering RM5,000 for information on the owner of the firearm," he said in a Facebook posting, describing the tragedy as "animal cruelty".
The post, which has since gone viral and been shared more than 1,000 times, was accompanied by a graphic image of the dog with swollen nipples lying in a pool of blood.
