Destini clinches maiden rail deal

    PETALING JAYA: Destini Bhd has secured its first rail manufacturing contract from the Transport Ministry for the design, manufacture, supply, delivery, testing and commissioning of new motor trolley and road rail vehicles for Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB).
    KTMB, which is wholly owned by the government, ia the only railway operator in the country.
    In a statement yesterday, the integrated engineering solutions provider said the two-year, RM62 million contract was awarded to its unit System Enhancement Resources & Technologies Sdn Bhd.
    The latest award brings the group’s total order book to RM730 million.
    Meanwhile, Destini managing director Datuk Rozabil Abdul Rahman said the group is looking forward to expanding its scope of work into other areas within the rail sector.
    Destini is submitting tenders for rail maintenance, repair and overhaul and manufacturing projects and hopes to clinch more deals within this year, he added.
